Science –It’s a Girl Thing at Providence Catholic School

Middle School Science ClubAt Providence Catholic School, science is a girl thing. Starting in the 6th grade, students are encouraged to find their potential to thrive in science and math. “Great science is about creating, seeing connections, asking questions, understanding how and why things work,” Middle School science teacher Katie Shults said. “Girls at Providence are given the opportunity to do all of that in the classrooms and labs.”

In all grades levels, Providence science instructors foster students’ long-term interest in math and science by choosing lessons that spark initial curiosity about math and science content. Instructors also introduce students to female role models who have achieved in math or science in order to promote positive beliefs regarding women’s abilities in those fields.

Advanced science and math classes are offered to Providence students at the high school level. Advanced placement classes are offered in chemistry and biology and calculus.
