Thank You SA, ACTimes Recognized for Community Journalism efforts

ACT-Now! Camp @OLLU

Last February when AlamoCityTimes.com founder and publisher Patricio Espinoza launched SA4Mayor.com, he knew there were no pit stops from there.

SA4Mayor.com reached over 30,000 page views in only 90 days, it held San Antonio's first ever Virtual Town Hall with the 2009 Mayoral candidates, and on election's night, a team of 2 journalists called the local race announcing the Alamo City's new Mayor one hour before all local TV news.

Things have been no different since, out of the last local election's coverage effort, AlamoCityTimes.com was born, a grassroots Journalism project in the public interest including community training camps like ACT-Now!

And now sharing the spotlight this week with iGoSA.com and NowcastSA, similar efforts acknowledged in an article this week published by the San Antonio Business Journal.

To date and almost a year ahead of still under-construction efforts, AlamoCityTimes.com now offers a state-of-the-art, homegrown on-line local open community where everyone in San Antonio can post, share and tell their stories to enrich the local media landscape. And you have!! Last Sept. 25,000 pages views agreed.

As of November 2009, ACTimes has reached a combined 75,000 page views (total May-Nov'09) And we now count with almost a dozen Community Contributors sharing San Antonio stories from the Arts and Culture to Sports, What's Happening Downtown, Local Fashion, Music and Food.  All about Your NewsCommunity News Videos and Citizen's Commentary, LIVE Webcasting Events, Photos and Video Features and Essays, National Breaking News and Local Investigative Reports. Plus exclusive ProjectSpurs.com , 210tv.com , MariachiMusic.com PLUS well known local Ramiro Burr exclusives. And we also do it in Español.

So with this in mind, we wanted to take a minute to thank you San Antonio for your support and contributions to our humble mission in 2009. With a limitless local human budget -YOU- we share several first, including our ACT-Now! Camp where Alamo City contributors joined us to learn more about today's digital tools, and how to use them in the public interest to tell OUR stories.

Our management team is made of seasoned, award winning journalists, digital natives with a strong traditional journalism experience breaking new ground. Our staff and contributors are 100% volunteers.

AlamoCityTimes.com is a local effort. We use local developers, local contributors, local writers and citizen journalists.  And more importantly, we operate with an independent budget, unbiased and free of corporate, third party interests.

And in 2010, together we will continue to break new ground in the public interest with YOU San Antonio... like our local tourism bureau puts it, with "Puro Corazón"

Best this Holiday Season and in 2010!!
