Welcome to AlamoCityTimes.com a new generation of Digital Independent Community driven Journalism.

Our mission is to give our community a fair, unbiased voice. We use the latest on-line tools and distribution social media networks to keep you, the people of San Antonio, informed, but most importantly involved.  Here at AlamoCityTimes.com you can publish your own stories, photos and videos about news you care about in the public interest. Your stories San Antonio! Your family, your friends, your neighborhood stories. The place you like, the business you sponsored. The movie you just watched, or that very important city issue you must speak out about.

AlamoCityTimes.com is a Hyperlocal News web publication covering Community news, and information in San Antonio.  Listed in the top 100 Hyperlocal Community Journalism efforts,  ACTimes partners include the Knight Digital Center as well as Block-by-Block national community news organization:http://alamocitytimes.com/partners/ ACtimes was also the founder of SA’s first interactive elections coverage website SA4Mayor.com which hosted and produced San Antonio’s first Interactive Online Social Media linked Twonhall meeting during the 2009 Mayoral Elections

In addition to managed Community Generated News, ACTimes also brings you LIVE Webcasts, Breaking News and Investigative Reports.  This is a volunteer community news effort and currently operates not-for-profit.  Our partners include support from community journalism programs including OLLU, The Knight Digital Centers and Harvard University among others [see partners]

Born May 19, 2009, ACTimes  is a neighborhood driven community news website, self-funded and backed by strong Journalism principals and ethics, and a seasoned news media professionals together with a team of community contributors and citizen journalists working in the public interests.

Before ACTimes, we successfully launched SA4Mayor.com covering the 2009 Candidates for Mayor with over 30,000 page views in only about 90 days.  SA4Mayor.com hosted San Antonio’s first Cyber Townhall Meeting and sparked the usage of Social Media by local candidates and their campaigns at the time.  AlamoCityTimes.com, “Your Community News Blog” was a natural transition to local community driven news where the community has a voice.

And so… here we are Alamo City… this is your digital home.

And here’s what we propose:

ACT Now Camp training

 You have a story to tell? An event to share? An issue of concern? Drop me a note, I will look into it… or better yet… dig up the story yourself, sign-up, send it in, and I will post it here. You can also upload photos and videos.  And if you need help contact us about ACT-Now Camp, a free training workshop for community contributors to learn more about story telling, video photography,social media and digital tools.

So you may be wondering Why? Well, our goal is to complement what traditional media has to offer. They get the big picture, so why not us, the community, add and enrich their coverage with other small pieces of the puzzle.

How many times have you whispered… Why doesn’t anyone cover or do that story? So here is your chance San Antonio, to put -in this case- Your Story where your mouth is.  Take a picture, shoot a video, write about it and send it our way.
